There was some relief from hot weather today as 12.2-mm rainfall was reported in the city in the past 24 hours.

As per the forecast, weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with light rain. Thunderstorm at 30-40 km ph is likely to accompany the rain. The max temp, which had remained around 40°C for the past few days, today dropped to 36.5°C. It is, however, one degree above normal.

Minimum temp was 22.4°C, two degrees below normal.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
