Chandigarh: The police have arrested a man who was riding a stolen scooter. The police said the suspect, Lovekush, alias Babloo, a resident of EWS colony, Dhanas, was arrested at Sector 23 while riding a scooter bearing a fake number. During further investigation, the police found the scooter was stolen from Sector 34. A case has been registered against him at the Sector 17 police station. TNS

Burail man attacked

Chandigarh: A resident of Burail was injured in an attack by three persons. In his police complainant, Buta Singh has alleged that Jatin, Sonu and Noni, all residents of Burail village, attacked him with a baseball bat. He was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32. The police have registered a case at the Sector 34 police station. TNS

Red Team win by 9 wickets

Chandigarh: In the opening match of the St Xavier’s Staff Cricket League, Red Team defeated Team White by nine wickets. Batting first, White Team scored 61 runs at the loss of seven wickets in 10 overs with the help of Davinder, who took 27 runs. Chandan Patwal and Ravinder Singh claimed three wickets each and Kamal Gosain one. In reply, the Red Team chased the target with the help of Vimal Bisht (28) and Patwal (22). TNS

Ropar cricket assn log victory

Chandigarh: Ropar District Cricket Association defeated SD Cricket Academy, Sector 24, by eight wickets in the 4th Lala Amarnath Aggarwal Memorial Cricket Tournament. The Sector 24 team scored 268 runs at the loss of six wickets in the allotted 45 overs. Shravan Sharma (97), Varun (81), Yuvraj Rai (43) and Aarush Bhandari (24) were main run-getters for the side. Jashan Preet Chechi claimed three wickets, while Krish Nanda, Rahul Maurya and Navpreet Singh took one each. In reply, Ropar team scored 272 runs at loss of three wickets with help of Aaryan Malhotra (71), Jap Ji Pahuja (67), Karman Preet Singh (62) and Mayank Gupta (59). Naman Ghai claimed two wickets for the bowling side.
