Chandigarh: New Mayor Kuldeep Kumar Dhalor will convene his first House meeting (on budget) on Wednesday. The budget meeting was earlier scheduled for February and was to be called by Manoj Sonkar, who was previously declared winner of the mayoral poll. The Supreme Court had stayed that meeting and declared Dhalor Mayor having found that presiding officer Anil Masih had deliberately rendered eight votes invalid. TNS
Dodgeball trials today
Chandigarh: The Dodgeball Association of Chandigarh will organise trials to select the local teams for the upcoming 16th Senior National Dodgeball Championship to be held at Shahi Sports College of Physical Education (Samrala) Ludhiana, from March 28 to 31. The trials will be held at CRB School, Sector 7, on March 3 (10.30am). TNS
Half marathon on March 10
Chandigarh: Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Chandigarh, will organise the 2nd edition of the Narsee Monjee Half Marathon on March 10. The event will be conducted under the theme ‘Mental-Wellbeing’. Dr Jaskiran Kaur, campus director, NMIMS, said the events, including 5km run, 10km run and 21.5km, would be organised and the prize money of Rs 1 lakh would be awarded to the winners. TNS
Badal runs to glory
Chandigarh: Badal Chaudhary won the 21km (18-30 years) category title by clocking 1:15:56s during the 13th Punjab Half Marathon. Roopdeep Kaur (2:24:40s) claimed the women’s category gold. In the 31-40 years event, Surender Singh (1:27:35s) and Anu Kumari (2:04:56s) claimed titles, while Sunil Rana (1:44:10s) and Paramjit Kaur (1:59:31s) emerged winners in the 41-50 years category. In the 10km event, Navjot Singh (36:48s) and Isha Malik (46:55s) won the top honours, while Sahil Kalra (42:35s) and Akanksha Verma (44:46s) won medals in the 19-40 years event. Salim Ahmed (49:20s) and Amanmeet Kaur (58:25s) won medals in the 41-50 years event. In the 5km event, Pankaj (18:05s) and Sita (21:05s) won medals. TNS
Kharar academy log win in cricket
Mohali: Champions Cricket Academy, Kharar, defeated Cricket With Nagesh Academy, Zirakpur, by six wickets in the last league match of the 1st Late RP Singh Memorial Women’s Cricket Tournament. Batting first, the Zirakpur team made 184 runs at the loss of nine wickets in 40 overs. Aaradhana Bisht (78), Yashika (24), Krishma Rana (16) and Eknoor Kaur (13) were the main scorers. Shibi (4/32) was the pick of the bowlers. In reply, the Kharar team scored 188 runs at the loss of four wickets in 39.4 overs. Har Simranjit Kaur scored an unbeaten 75, while Rakhi Dhir (36), Nikita Nain (32) and Manu Rana (27) were the other main contributors for the side. Tanvi and Aaradhana Bisht claimed a wicket each.
