Chandigarh MC organises cancer screening camp for its employees, families
Chandigarh, March 1
The Municipal Corporation (MC) has organised a cancer screening camp in collaboration with Mullanpur-based Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre for its employees and their families at Rani Laxmi Bai Mahila Bhawan, Sector 38C here today.
UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit inaugurated the camp in presence of Mayor Kuldeep Kumar, UT Adviser Rajeev Verma, Local Government Secretary Nitin Kumar Yadav and MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra and Dr Ashish Gulia, Director, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Punjab.
The Governor commended the effort of MC in organising the awareness and screening camp for its employees. He said: “I got to know that the hospital has not only screening the employees of MC but also screening the employees of UT Administration.”
He said that MC was doing highly appreciable work towards well-being of its employees.
He said the objective of the cancer screening camp was to determine the screening of preventable cancers, including oral, breast, and cervix cancer, as well as Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus and respiratory diseases among employees.
Mayor Kumar said the camp aims to identify risk factors and devise strategies to bring about a healthy change in lifestyle.
Participants who were diagnosed with precancerous or cancerous conditions will be referred to the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre for further diagnostic evaluation and treatment.
MC Commissioner Mitra said the MC was committed to the well-being of its employees and families.
