Chandigarh, May 31
After the water tariff hike notification was deferred by the UT Administration till March 2022 due to Covid, the MC House today resolved to withdraw it. The House was of the view that after withdrawing the notification, new rates should be finalised and the hike should be normal. However, MC Commissioner KK Yadav gave his dissent note, citing financial loss to the MC.
Both Congress as well as ruling BJP councillors favoured the withdrawal of the notification and adjustment of the hiked bills already paid in the future bills. A decision in this regard will be taken by the Administration.
What else was decided
The MC House decided to ask the UT Administration to “itself” do the work of putting up new speed limit and stop signage boards along with marking on MC roads. Otherwise, it should give additional funds to the MC for the purpose. Members of the House decided to visit different garbage processing plant sites before deciding which technology is to be adopted for the processing plant in Sector 25. — TNS
