Chandigarh, July 11
MP Kirron Kher today inaugurated community centres in Sector 20 and 30.
She said the centres were strategically located to serve the citizens as these were used for organising cultural programmes, weddings and other social activities.
Mayor Sarbjit Kaur Dhillon said the community centre building in Sector 30 had been constructed on nearly one acre. With a covered area of 18,500 sq ft, the building had come up at the cost of Rs 4.50 crore, she added.
The community centre has a capacity to accommodate 500 people.
Dhillon said the community centre was the best-of-its-kind in the city and consisted of hall, caretaker room, bridal room and toilets for ladies and gents on the ground floor. There are gymnasium, indoor games, lobby, library, three rooms, open terrace and toilets for ladies and gents on the first floor.
MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra, area councillors and representatives of RWAs were among those present on the occasion.
