To give a boost to tourism, the UT Tourism Department has planned a series of activities to develop and promote tourism in the city.
The department has engaged a project development and management consultant under the Swadesh Dharshan 2.0 scheme of the Tourism Ministry.
To a query raised during a meeting of the UT Administrator’s Advisory Council held on August 18 last year, in the action taken report, the Tourism Department had stated that under the marketing and degitisation component of the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, theme-based lighting and promotion of museums will be done in the city. The funds for the same will be provided by the Ministry of Tourism.
The department further stated that inception report for the development and promotion of tourism and challenges faced by the city had already been sent to the Ministry of Tourism.
For the convenience of visitors to the Rock Garden, a proposal for improvement of entrance and ticket window, re-designing or re-location of the souvenir shop, pond oxidation, Rock Museum, Arial Safari, theme-based Rock Café and the addition of a succulent garden have been put forth.
Further, water stations have been proposed for visitors at Sukhna Lake.
With regard to museums, addition of AR/VR immersive experience at museums, improved signage and audio and video guides, separate ticket window and visible signage (IAF Heritage Centre) with condition that the façade of the museum should not be changed have been proposed.
