Chandigarh poet honoured in Italy

The Academy of Philosophical Arts and Sciences, Bari, honoured Chandigarh-based poet and philosopher Jernail Singh Anand with its prestigious Seneca Award ‘Laudis Charta’ in recognition of his contribution to world literature. Dr Massimo Massa, president of the academy, described Anand’s work as “phenomenal” at the Seneca Awards function at the Castello Normanno, Sunnicandro di Bari, Italy, on October 19.

In his thanksgiving address, Anand remarked that India and Italy enjoyed great affinity in matters philosophic.

If Rome ruled the world of action, India was the centre of spiritual power, which could be seen reflected even in its statesmen, he said.

Anand also made a strong plea to adopt a new Ethical Alphabet developed by the International Academy of Ethics, like A for Almighty, C for Compassion, E for Ethics and F for Fraternity, etc.

Anand, who hails from Chandigarh, is former principal of DAV College.

He has 170 plus books of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, spirituality and philosophy to his credit.
