Chandigarh on Tuesday received vials of Covishield. The vaccine would be store at GMSH-16 (District Hospital).

It received 1,250 vials, which makes it 12,500 doses (10 doses per vial).

Covishield vaccine is co-developed by the University of Oxford and British-Swedish company AstraZeneca in collaboration with the Serum Institute of India.

The vaccine will be administered at nine sites across the city, including two sites each at GMSH-16, GMCH-32, Civil hospitals-45, 22, Manimajra, and Sector- 49, Civil dispensary of PGI.

There are five more sites at PGI where the vaccination will take place.

PGIMER is one of the trial sites for Covishield vaccine. 

The vaccine can be stored at 2-8 degrees Centigrade (household refrigerator temperature), and has to be taken in two doses with intramuscular injections within a gap of 28 days.
