Chandigarh reported two new Covid cases on Thursday, taking the city’s tally of active cases to 34, according to a Health Department bulletin.

The city continued to report no deaths due to the virus-having reported the last Covid fatality on July 5.

So far, Chandigarh has recorded a total of 61,916 cases and 809 deaths due to the contagion.

Nearly 80 per cent of adults have received the first shot of the Covid vaccine in the city.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
