Chandigarh reports 3 new cases of Covid-19; active cases fall to 53

Chandigarh on Saturday reported only three new cases of Covid-19 as the total number of cases reached 61,870.

As many as 1,620 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and a positivity rate of 0.19 per cent was recorded.

The number of active cases has reduced to 53 as 13 patients were discharged, including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per Ministry of Health guidelines.

The death toll in the city remains 809 and 61,008 patients have been cured till date.

The number of people who have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine is 5,37,681 while 1,37,976 have received both the doses.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
