Chandigarh reports 38 fresh COVID-19 cases, one death; tally reaches 1,117

Chandigarh on Sunday reported 38 more cases of COVID-19, taking the caseload in the Union Territory to 1,117.

Meanwhile, the death of a 63-year-old man was also reported on Sunday.

The fresh cases include a 62-year-old woman and 63-year-old man Sector-48, 25-year-old woman from Sector-25, 17-year-old man from Sector-15, 56-year-old man from Sector-50, 47-year-old woman from Khudda Ali Sher, 32-year-old woman from Sector-22. All are contacts of already positive patients.

Three cases were also reported from Sector-26 — 26-year-old man, 27-year-old woman and 24-year-old man — all are contacts of already positive workplace contact.

Other cases include 32-year-old Sector-22, 30-year-old from Sector-44, 26-year-old woman from Sector-63, 77-year-old man from Sector-45, 48-year-old man from Sector-25, 50-year-old woman from Sector-55.

Two cases were also reported from Sector-46 — 35 and 45-year-old men; 26-year-old man from Sector 46, 44-year-old man from Sector-14, 34-year-old man from Sector-38W, two from Sector-20 — 53-year-old woman and 25-year-old man.

Manimajra also recorded four cases — 16-year-old boy, 80-year-old woman, 56-year-old woman and 65-year-old man.

Burial reported five cases — 28-year-old man, 32-year-old woman, 12-year-old girl, 26-year-old man and 29-year-old man.

Three cases were reported from Dhanas — 29-year-old woman, nine-year-old boy, 44-year-old man.

The remaining cases include two from Sector-52 — 24-year-old man and 26-year-old man; 28-year-old man from Ramdarbar and 58-year-old man from Sector-42.

With the addition of 38 new cases, the active cases in the UT has risen to 399.

Chandigarh has so far recorded 698 recoveries and 19 deaths.

Meanwhile, the 63-year-old man, resident of Bapu Dham, died on Saturday night at PGIMER, Chandigarh. He was a case of SARI along with coronary artery disease with inferior wall myocardial infarction.

The man was admitted in SARI ward on July 31, where he was sampled for COVID. He tested positive on August 1. He has nine family members and four family contacts. All 13 have been sampled, reports of which are awaited.
