A 70-year-old woman from Palsora, who died at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, also had heart problems and was also diabetic.

The third fatality was an 80-year-old man from Sector 33 who was a diabetic, had hypertension, hypothyroidism and CNS Lymphoma. He died at Mohali’s Sohana Hospital.

Chandigarh has been reporting significantly higher number of cases all of August, but cases have especially spiralled since August 17, when the city began reporting infections in triple digits.

Just over 67 per cent of Chandigarh’s total cases have been reported in August alone.

Of that number, 1,107 infections—about 34 per cent of the city’s total cases—have been recorded since August 17.

The UT has 1,454 active cases.
