Chandigarh: In a major reshuffle, the UT Engineering Department on Saturday issued the posting and transfer orders of 27 junior engineers (JEs). UT Chief Engineer CB Ojha said 22 junior engineers (civil) and five junior engineers (electrical) were transferred with immediate effect. He said 22 JEs (civil) were shifted to the Building and Road wing of the department and the remaining were now posted in electrical wing. TNS

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh chapter of the Merchant Navy Officers’ Association (MNOA), observed the Day of the Seafarer here on Saturday. Stating that the time had drastically changed for seafarers, chapter president Capt TS Bhatia said there was a pressing need to reorient themselves to the new reality that was witnessing reduced crew strength and truncated port stays. Capt Jaideep Khatri, general secretary, MNOA, said the maritime world was changing fast, with ships becoming more environment friendly, digitisation increasing and crews becoming more diverse. TNS

Expedition flagged off

Chandigarh: A seven-day expedition rally to Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh, by the SOUL Club of Tata Motors was flagged off on Saturday. The rally will cover more than 1,200 km and pass through Manali, Chandratal, Kaza, Tabo/Nako, Sangla and Thanedhar before returning via same route on July 3. Many professional off-road drivers and navigators are participating in the event.
