According to the police, complainant Himmat Jakhar had come in contact with the suspects, Punyamanthula Navya Radhakrishan, his father-in-law Chinta Shankar Rao and others, residents of Visakhapatnam, through a website regarding the sale of cars. They assured him and his brother-in-law Manreet Singh that there was no loan against the car. Jakhar paid Rs52 lakh in three instalments in September 2019 and later found that the suspects had forged documents and taken a loan of Rs40 lakh against the car.

The complainant asked them to return the money, which, they claimed, they would return. However, they transferred only Rs10 lakh. A case has been registered at the Sector 3 police station. — TNS
