Chandigarh: The city witnessed first death in 150 days on Tuesday. A 71-year-old woman, a resident of Sector 46, suffering from heart disease, chronic kidney disease and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome died at a Mohali hospital. The deceased was fully vaccinated for Covid. The last Covid death in the city was recorded on February 26, that of a 52-year-old man from Sector 52, who was suffering from Type 2 diabetes mellitus and other comorbidities. TNS
PGI, PU release kids’ comic
Chandigarh: The PGI and Panjab University released a new comic series titled “Kids, vaayu & climate change: Heatwave strikes.” The comic series is the brainchild of Dr Ravindra Khaiwal, Professor of Health Environment, PGI, and Dr Suman Mor, Panjab University. The first issue of the comic was released during an online event. It has been released in 22 scheduled languages of India. TNS
CCA students meet Kovind
Chandigarh: Students of the Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA) attended a session with former President Ram Nath Kovind to discuss a book, “Interpreting Geometries”, written by Principal Sangeeta Bagga. The book has been compiled with the help of students and the entire team was invited to the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The book documents and analyses the intricate play of geometry applied to evolve the unique flooring patterns at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The former President congratulated Bagga on successfully compiling the book. TNS

Chandigarh: Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 35, registered a (2-0) win over Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, on the opening day of the girls’ U-14 inter-school baseball tournament. St Anne’s School, Sector 32, defeated Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, (4-1). In the boys’ U-14 category, GMSSS, Sector 10, logged a (11-1) win over GMSSS, Sector 39, and Government Model High School, Sector 37, defeated GMSSS, Behlana, (11-1). TNS
Dalwinder is FOSWA chief
Chandigarh: The Federation of Social Welfare Association (FOSWA) unanimously elected its office-bearers in a meeting held recently. During the meeting, the members unanimously elected Dalwinder Singh Saini as president, Pradeep Mahajan as general secretary, Rakesh Barota as senior vice-president and Tarsem Sharma as finance secretary. FOSWA claimed to be the apex body of 15 selected Resident Welfare Associations in Sector 39 and 40. On this occasion, the newly appointed president pledged that he would always be ready to solve the problems of residents by taking up the issues with the Administration.
