Chandigarh on Wednesday saw a massive jump in Covid-19 cases as the city recorded 33 new infections up from 15 a day before.

A positivity rate of 2.61 per cent was recorded as 1,263 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

The number of active cases jumped to 126 from 100 a day before as seven patients were discharged, including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per Ministry of Health guidelines.

The cumulative number of cases in Chandigarh has reached 65,829 while the death toll remains 1,079.

As many as 64,624 people have recovered from the disease so far.
