Shresth Nirmohi’s five-wicket haul went in vain as Chandigarh settled for a draw against hosts Nagaland on the fourth and final day of their Ranji Trophy match at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium in Sovima, Dimapur, today.

The visitors, though, gained three points from the match on the basis of their first innings lead.

Having declared their first innings closed on 400/6 yesterday, Chandigarh bundled out the hosts for just 135 runs in their first essay.

After a delayed start, the hosts were rocked early as Nirmohi sent back Temjentoshi Jamir on three, while Tejosel Yeithun was run out by Arslan Khan on eight.

Nirmohi then got rid of Yogesh Takawale (12), Shrikant Mundhe (27) and Jonathan Rongsen (7) to reduce the hosts to 66/5.

Gurinder Singh dismissed captain Hokaito Zhimomi (3) before Nirmohi returned to end Mughavi Wotsa’s vigil to complete his five wicket haul. Wotsa faced 40 balls but failed to open his account.

Aosashi Longchar offered a return catch to Gurinder on six, while Nagaho Chishi was cleaned up by the medium pacer on eight. Bipul Sharma then castled Tahmeed Rahman on seven to bring an end to Nagaland’s innings.

Imliwati Lemtur remained not out on 38.

For Chandigarh, Nirmohi claimed 5/39, while Gurinder took 3/27.

Asked to follow-on, Nagaland in their second innings were batting on 26/0 when then match ended.

Chandigarh now have 20 points from four matches and are placed third in the Plate Group. Pondicherry with 27 points lead the table, while Goa are second with 23 points.

Chandigarh will face Sikkim in their fifth-round match at home from January 11.
