The Commonwealth Games Federation has agreed to India's proposal to host the Commonwealth Archery and Shooting Championships in January 2022. Chandigarh will host both the competitions.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) had called for the boycott of the 2022 Commonwealth Games to be held in Birmingham after shooting was dropped from the programme. In a statement on Monday, the CGF board confirmed the move.
The CGF executive board gave its approval to this unique win-win proposal on Monday following months of deliberations and back-channel negotiations between IOA, NRAI, World Archery and International Shooting Sports Federation. Ten members of the CGF executive voted in favour of the unique proposal.
