Chandigarh: Youth arrested under Arms Act

The police arrested Deepak Kumar (27), a resident of Sector 25, from the underpass on the Sector 11/15 road on Friday. A big knife was recovered from his possession. A case under the Arms Act has been registered at the Sector 11 police station.

Meter stolen from house

Chandigarh: Arun Kumar, a resident of Sector 46-D, reported that some person stole the water meter from his house on September 12. A case has been registered.

Institute organises CME

Mohali: The Pathology Department at Dr BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences here organised a continuing medical education (CME) event on Saturday. Rowing meet at Sukhna today

Chandigarh: The 25th Sub-Junior State Rowing Championship will be held at Sukhna Lake Rowing Centre, on September 22 (10 am). No doubling in events between U-13 years and U-15 years will be allowed. For the U-15 category, a rower born on or after January 1, 2009, will be considered, while for the U-13 group, a rower born on or after January 1, 2011, will be eligible for participation.

8-day expedition kicks off

Chandigarh: An eight-day Getaway2Spiti 4x4 Expedition for adventure lovers was flagged off from the city on Friday. The expedition will run in a convoy format, with each vehicle being assigned a sequence. Overtaking and single vehicle movements will not be allowed. The convoy will have a ‘lead’ vehicle which will head the convoy and a ‘sweep’ vehicle which will tail the convoy. The getaway will pass Hatu Mata temple, various monasteries at Tabo and Kaza, and the Kunzum pass.

Kabaddi teams name captains

Panchkula: The Haryana Hurricane, Rajasthan Rulers, and Delhi Dragons, three franchisees for the inaugural Indian Premier Kabaddi League (IPKL), have announced their captains. The event also featured the unveiling of the team jerseys. The inaugural IPKL season will witness eight teams competing from October 4 to 19 at Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium. Shiv Kumar will captain the Haryana Hurricane, while Kapil Narwal has been named captain of the Rajasthan Rulers. The Delhi Dragons have named Vikas Dahiya as their captain for the inaugural season.

Kho-kho team bag silver

Chandigarh: The U-19 kho-kho team of Shishu Niketan Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, bagged silver medal in the recently concluded CBSE Cluster Kho-Kho Tournament at Sushila Devi Public School, Patiala. The victory of the team showcases remarkable skill and teamwork and exceptional coordination, said Director Amita Khorana, while congratulating the team.
