Youth attacked with hammer in Chandigarh's Hallo Majra, ear severed
Chandigarh, June 30
A 20-year-old youth was allegedly attacked with a hammer by two persons at Hallo Majra here on Wednesday night.
Victim Surjit Kumar’s ear was severed in the assault, which took place barely a few metres from a police post.
Victim’s father Suresh Gupta, who sells ‘petha’ on a cart, said he along with his family was present in their house at Hallo Majra, when two persons arrived there and started asking for food.
“My son told them there was nothing to offer, following which one of the suspects attacked him on the head with a hammer,” he said.
The hammer hit Surjit’s right ear, severing it. The victim’s father rushed to the police beat box and called the cops present there.
“A policeman visited the scene and caught a suspect. However, he later let him go,” claimed Suresh.
Meanwhile, the victim was admitted to the GMCH, Sector 32, from where he was later discharged. The police have initiated an investigation in the matter.
