After clinching a silver medal in National Games last year, local golfer Aadil Bedi is all set to make a comeback in the domestic circuit, starting with Mysuru Open-2024 — a Rs 1 crore prize money tournament — from August 8.
The local golfer will play 15 events on the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) in the upcoming season, including Q school on an Asian tour at Lake View Resort Hua Hin in Thailand in December. He had a great start to the season early this year after finishing T-14th at Glade One Open Championship, with a level par score and made a cut in Challenge Tour and Delhi Challenge championships.
The Pro Am event of the Mysuru Open is scheduled to start tomorrow. “My power game is in good shape after I improved my fitness with Sagar Diwan at CGA Golf Range. It is a long waiting period after registering first win at the West Bengal Open in 2020,” added the 23-year-old.
The tour starts in Mysuru, followed by Coimbatore Open from August 14 and Chennai Open from August 20. He will be playing Vizag Open from September 18 and Telangana Golconda Masters from September 26. In October, he will be featuring in two major events on home grounds — Haryana Open in Panchkula from October 17 and Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational at Chandigarh Golf Club from October 24.
The Kapil Dev Invitational Golf Tournament will be held in November, and the year-ending Tata Steel Open will be played at Jamshedpur.
Bedi has good memories of his maiden win at the West Bengal Open 2020. “So far, my game is shaping back very well. I worked very hard with my father Dr Harry Bedi, who assisted me with the help of hi-tech gadgets, supported by advanced software analysis. I have finished almost in the top-10 in the last four events. I am very confident that I will finish on the podium in most of the matches in the next five months,” said Bedi. He added, “These national PGTI events are significant, considering the next year’s Commonwealth Games selections.”
