The 16-year-old carded rounds of 62, 64, and 70 to stand at 14-under-par 196 in the first three rounds, maintaining a narrow lead in the competitive Boys’ A&B Division.
In the final round, Chawla played a round of 67 to post a total of 263 for the second position. Chawla, a student of Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, recently displayed his superiority in the R&A Amateur Championship (UK), Junior World Golf Championship at Torrey Pines (USA), Asia-Pacific Junior Championship (Hong Kong), and the Singapore Junior Championship.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Pritish Singh Karayat surged into second place with a scintillating third-round 64, bringing his total to 13-under 197, just one shot behind Chawla. Neil Jolly from Chandigarh also made a strong push, carding a third-day 63 to move into third place at 12-under 198. Haryana’s Harjai Milkha Singh, son of golfing legend Jeev Milkha Singh, also trailed by posting rounds of 71, 64, and 65 for a total of 10-under 200. The tournament has attracted India’s top junior talent, with fierce competition across all categories.
In the boys’ B Division, Delhi’s Chaitanya Pandey continues to lead with steady rounds of 69, 68, and 67, totalling 6-under 204. Close on his trail are Jaibir Singh Kang (Haryana) and Shaurya Dagar, both tied for second at 3-under 207. In the Boys C Division, Haryana’s Siddhant Sharma took control with rounds of 64 and 67, sitting atop the leader board at 11-under 131.
