Chandra Shekhar Azad T20 tourney matches begin today

The opening ceremony of the first-ever franchise-based cricket tournament in Chandigarh, ‘Chandra Shekhar Azad T20 Tournament’, organised by the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) was organised at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector 3.

Rajeev Verma, Chief Secretary of UT Administration, and other officials attended the opening ceremony. Verma remarked that this was not just a cricket event, but a celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork and unity, which will inspire young cricketers in the tricity.

Sanjay Tandon, president, UT Cricket Association, stated that this franchise-based tournament was a pilot run, and upon its success, it will be further strengthened in the upcoming domestic season with a players’ auction process.

The matches will begin on February 7, with the final set for February 23. A total of 33 matches will be played and entry to all matches is free, with live telecasts. The event was also attended by other members of the UTCA. In the opening match, Wild Wood Warriors will play against Manohar Mavericks and Talanor Tigers will take on Hima Hawks.
