With Common Eligibility Test (CET) exams scheduled today at various schools of the city, local teachers alleged facing harassment as the UT Education Department asked the faculty not performing examination duty to mark their attendance at other designated schools.

At one of the schools, the non-teaching staff arrived in large numbers to get information about their designated duties.

“The department issued a list of the schools, where the faculty who didn’t perform the examination duty was asked to reach and mark their attendance. The department could have declared a holiday. At one of the schools in Sector 23, many non-teaching staff reached to get information about their allotment of duties,” said one of the local teachers.

Meanwhile, the city witnessed heavy rush as hundreds of students appeared for the Common Eligibilty Test exam.

As many as 1.5 lakh students are scheduled to attend the exanimations on July 26 and 27. Today, around 75,000 students appeared in both morning and evening shifts across 153 centres in city.
