Chargesheet filed against JE in bribery case

The CBI has filed a chargesheet against a junior engineer of the Electricity Department who was arrested in a corruption case.

The CBI had arrested the accused, Sukhwinder Singh, on February 26 for allegedly demanding bribe from one Bharat Kumar for settlement of a matter. In a complaint to the CBI, Sukhwinder had alleged that the JE had been threatening to take action against him over an electricity meter installed at his residence. He alleged that the JE asked him to pay a bribe of Rs 50,000 to settle the matter. However, the deal was struck for Rs 30,000. The JE then called the complainant to his office in Manimajra to hand over the money.

The CBI laid a trap and arrested the accused red handed while allegedly receiving the bribe amount.
