Charitable trust distributes pension to 150 needy persons

The district unit of the Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust distributed monthly pension to 150 needy, widows, disabled and sick people in the district.

Vice-president Jai Krishan Kashyap and secretary Paramjit Singh Haripur said the with the efforts of SP Singh Oberoi the trust provides cheques to 150 needy widows, disabled and victims of various diseases every month.

They said besides, scholarships for higher education was given to the needy and meritorious students. He said the trust also imparted sewing and embroidery training to girls, besides computer education to make them self-employed and self-reliant.

Yadwinder Singh, president of the district unit of the trust, said a new sewing centre has been set up at Jallah village, where the girls were being given free training in sewing, embroidery, computer, beauty parlour and other social welfare works following the principles of ‘Naam Jappo, Kirat Karo and Vand Chakko’.

He said after getting training the women can start their own business.
