Recently, the MC has been imposing new taxes and increasing the water charges. It has also been increasing the benefits to counsellors. In the last meeting, the House passed new cars with driver and fuel and several other benefits to them. The MC has been facing financial crunch for several years now and the civic work has suffered a lot. Several development works have come to a halt. The Chandigarh Administration may review the MC Act to fix up perquisites, allowances and Budget for tours for counsellors so that the time spent on such unproductive resolutions can be saved for benefit of people.

Follow lane driving

The UT traffic police are making efforts to make drivers to strictly follow their lane. Lack of discipline causes traffic to move in a haphazard manner. Fast moving traffic is always supposed to occupy the right lane while slower traffic should stick to the left. Lanes ensure enough gap between vehicles. A major problem in India is cars being driven dangerously close to each other, leaving little to no margin for error. Lanes organise traffic and prevent bottlenecks to a large extent. While the authorities are trying to fulfil their part of role, commuters also need to act responsible in this regard.
