A team of the Health Department and the police today conducted surprise inspections at two medical stores in Peerjain and Kharora villages of the district. The team, led by Drug Inspector Sukhbir Chand, seized 460 intoxicating pills from a medical store, following which the owner was booked. Around 60 syringes were recovered from another store which had no record of purchase/sale available.

Meanwhile, Civil Surgeon Dr Davinderjit Kaur asked all the medical store owners of the district to store drugs banned by the government in and keep a complete record of purchase and sale of needles and syringes. She warned of legal action against those who sell banned drugs or medicines without a certified doctor’s prescription.

District Drug Inspector Sukhbir Chand said the investigation of medical stores will continue in the coming days.
