Chitkara shuttlers win gold in North Zone meet

Hosts Chitkara University shuttlers won the North Zone Inter-University Badminton Championship for men, while Delhi and Panjab Universities claimed the second and third position, respectively.

In the opening league match, Chitkara University defeated Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, 3-0. Samarveer defeated Sahil 21-18, 21-17, while Gautam logged a 21-6, 21-15 win over Prashant, while the pair of Harsh and Aakash defeated Sahil and Avodh 21-16, 21-10 to win the final game. In another match, Delhi University overpowered Panjab University 3-2.

In a see-saw match, Akul Malik won the opening match for Panjab University by defeating Aryan 16-21, 21-16, 21-18. However, Delhi’s Tanshiq put the scores on a par by defeating Dhruv 21-15, 14-21, 21-18. The Delhi team won their doubles tie as Aryan and Aryan defeated Malik and Akshiv 21-17, 21-12. However, Panjab University team bounced back as Ishan defeated Aayush 21-13, 15-21, 21-14. In the doubles event, Delhi’s Tanshiq and Akasrhit ousted Dhruv and Ishaan 15-21, 21-17, 21-12 to win the match.

Chitkara lads ousted Panjab University 3-0 as Chirag Seth defeated Akshiv 21-14, 21-9, Gautam defeated Yash Tuteja 21-10, 21-6 and Asmit and Samarveer outplayed Ashwin and Yash 21-7, 21-18. Delbhi University logged a 3-1 win over Meerut. Aryan defeated Sahil 21-14, 7-21, 21-17, while Meerut’s Prashant ousted Tanishq 21-9, 21-17. Aryan and Aryan won the doubles event for Delhi by defeating Avadh and Sahil 21-16, 16-21, 21-10, and in the last match, Delhi’s Aryan ousted Avadh 16-21, 21-16, 21-18.

Chitkara lads blanked Delhi University 3-0. Samarveer won the opening game by defeating Aaryan 21-17, 21-10, followed by Gautam’s 21-16, 21-13 win over Tanishq. Harsh and Aakash defeated Aryan and Aryan 18-21, 21-17, 21-16. In the last league match, Panjab University defeated Meerut team. Sahil won the first match for Meerut by defeating Ishaan 23-21, 22-24, 21-16. However, the Panjab University team bounced back as Malik defeated Prashant 13-21, 24-22, 21-11, Ishaan and Dhruv ousted Avadh and Sahil 21-18, 23-21 and Dhruv defeated Avadh 29-27, 21-16.

Win table tennis gold

In the North Zone Inter-University Women’s Table Tennis Championship Chitkara University won the gold medal. The side defeated Chandigarh University, Panjab University and Delhi University 3-0 by identical margins of 3-0. Chandigarh University, Gharuan, claimed the silver medal and Panjab University bagged the bronze.
