The men’s hockey team of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) logged a 3-2 win over AG Haryana after trailing two goals, during the opening match of the Chandigarh State Senior Men & Women Hockey Championships at the Sector 42 Sports Complex.
After initial struggle, AG Haryana lads broke the deadlock and claimed a 2-0 lead with the help of Saravjeet, as he converted two back-to-back penalty corners (20th, 28th minute). Down by two goals, the CISF didn’t lose hope and made a stunning comeback with the help of Vishaljit (38th, 43rd). As the match was expected to end in a draw, Dheeraj sounded the wooden plank by converting a penalty corner in the 46th minute to help CISF bag full points.
The team of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) logged a 4-2 win over AG Punjab in the second match. Taranjot (4th) put the ITBP ahead through a field goal, but Vijendra levelled the score in the 17th minute. The ITBP lads were again in command as Vijay (23rd) converted a penalty corner, but Gurmukh put the scores back to 2-2 in the 35th minute. Thereafter, Roshan (38th) and M Chinkei (53rd) scored for the ITBP squad.
In the women’s category, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Hockey Club, Sector 26, drubbed Rock Rovers Hockey Club 6-1. Tamanna (27th, 53rd, 54th) scored maximum goals for the side, while Anmoldeep (6th, 28th) contributed two, and Manpreet (52nd) scored one for the winning side. Tamanna scored the lone goal for the club team in the 58th minute.
Meanwhile, the men’s team of 3BRD Air Force defeated the Sector 26 club 6-0. Vinayak (24th, 35th, 43rd) scored three goals, followed by Sumit (23rd), Rahul (39th) and Lovedeep (40th).
