The cash-starved CITCO is spending around Rs 3 lakh per month on the salary of the 15 security persons deployed at the UT Guest House in Delhi.
This has raised questions over deploying so many guards at a four-room house — less than one Kanal — in Harish Chandra Mathur Lane, Delhi. In the bills of November, the Deputy Resident Commissioner raised Rs 2.88 lakh paid in favour of a hiring firm.
While CITCO officials said they would look into the matter, the Joint Action Committee of the CITCO Employee Union has raised question over the deployment of so many security personnel at the house
Premlal, leader of the Joint Action committee, said only two or three security guards were enough for the house. He said: “While CITCO is running into loss, more than Rs 30 lakh are annually spent on the security of the house.”
Rajiv Kohli, member of the Joint Action Committee, said: “Even hotels of CITCO in Chandigarh don’t have so many security persons.” They demanded an inquiry into the issue.
Meanwhile, Jaswinder Kaur, Managing Director of CITCO, said she would confirm the number of security guards deployed at the UT guest house in Delhi. “However, CITCO is being reimbursed by the Administration for the expenditure, but I will look into the matter,” she said.
