The Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO) has decided to run more solar-powered boats in Sukhna Lake. Instead of procuring solar boats, the corporation will run these on monthly revenue-sharing basis.

Officials said tenders have been floated, adding that new solar boats would start operations in the next two to three months. According to officials, the corporation is earning a good amount of revenue from boating in the lake. Tourists visit the lake in large numbers, due to which the demand for boats is very high.

At present, there are only two solar-powered boats being operated in the lake. Besides, there are 125 paddle boats and four Shikaras. On the lines of Sukhna Lake, the UT Administration is also developing the new lake in Sector 42 where different types of musical event will be held in the evening. People can book a boat ride in Sukhna Lake through the CITCO app online. Tickets are also available at the lake.
