Hockey Chandigarh suffered a crushing 7-0 defeat against Hockey Jharkhand in a Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship match at Jind today.

Deepak Soreng (17th, 25th, 30th) scored a hat-trick, while Binit Toppo (27th), Roshan Reetik Lakra (28th), Nmit Dohdray (42nd) and Adisan Minj (47th) hit a goal each as Jharkhand boys marched into the semifinals.

Earlier, Manipur Hockey became the first team to progress to semis after they beat Hockey Odisha 2-0 on penalties.

Rohit Singh Ningthoujam and Dilip Konthoujam found the target for Manipur in the shootout, even as goalkeeper Dawin Luwang Koijam stopped all four attempts by Odisha Hockey.

In another match, Hockey Haryana blanked Hockey Punjab 2-0. Sukhwinder (14th) and Amit Khasa (25th) gave Haryana a two-goal lead at half-time, which they held onto admirably in the second half to book a place in the semis.

Uttar Pradesh Hockey, meanwhile, registered a 3-0 win over Hockey Bihar. Fahad Khan (9th, 52nd) struck twice while Manoj Yadav (54th) hit home once.
