Chandigarh, August 13
A group of 10 cyclists, including seven from Chandigarh, will pedal to Hussainiwala border in Ferozepur on Independence Day where they will unfurl the Tricolur and pay homage to the martyrs.
The ‘Jashn-e-Azadi’ ride will feature an 11-year-old schoolboy, Tanmay Rawat, and 55-year-old Natinder Dhillon.
Cyclist Vikrant Sharma said the purpose of organising the ride was not only to inculcate the spirit of patriotism in people but also to generate passion for cycling.
Sharma said the cyclists would leave Chandigarh on August 14 morning and travel through Sirhind, Khanna, Ludhiana by-pass and Moga.
On August 15, with the support of the BSF, the cyclists will conclude the ‘Jashn-e-Azadi’ ride with the hoisting of the Tricolor at Hussainiwala in company of the local people and jawans, he said. The group will also pay homage to the martyrs.
