Chandigarh girls log 5-wicket win over Mizoram

Chandigarh, March 11

A timely half-century by opener Parushi Prabhakar steered Chandigarh to a five-wicket win over Mizoram in their Women’s U-19 One Day Trophy match at the KORM College Ground in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, on Tuesday.

Opting to bat, Mizoram were restricted to 146/7 in 50 overs, even as opener Srilekha Roy scored an unbeaten 80.

Jyotikumari was the pick of the bowlers for Chandigarh, claiming 3/27 in her 10 overs. Karmanpreet Kaur Sandhu took 2/19, while Rameza (1/29) accounted for one wicket.

Chandigarh, in reply, reached home in 37.2 overs. Parushi hit an 87-ball 63, while Mehul contributed 23 runs to the chase. Skipper Kashvee Gautam chipped in with 21 runs.

Sagarika Sengupta bagged 2/20, while Srilekha took 1/28 for Mizoram.

Chandigarh’s chances of making it to the knockouts are all but over as the side are eight points adrift of table-toppers Pondicherry (32 points) with just a match to play.

Kashvee-led side will face Nagaland in their last league match tomorrow. — TNS
