The Panchkula police arrested one person with 11.9 gm heroin on Wednesday under their ‘Nasha Aur Violence Mukt Mera Gaon Meri Shaan Abhiyan’.
The arrested accused has been identified as Amrit Lal (34), a resident of Kishangarh village in Chandigarh, currently living as a tenant in Sector 25, Panchkula.
A team of the Anti-Narcotics Cell led by Sub Inspector Praveen received a tip-off that a youth named Amrit Lal would come to sell heroin to one of his customers near Radhasoami Satsang Bhawan in Sector 25, Panchkula.
The team reached the spot and arrested the accused. On searching, 11.9 gm heroin and Rs 1,500 were recovered from him. A spokesperson said Police Commissioner Rakesh Kumar Arya had given strict instructions to completely curb drug abuse in the district.
A case was registered against the accused under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Act at the Chandimandir police station.
He was produced in court, which sent him in two-day police remand.
