The award was given in the field of Energy Conservation in the Group-4 category comprising UTs and states. The performance was evaluated on the basis of State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI), which is a tool to assess and compare the annual energy efficiency performance of states/UTs. The index is developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) in collaboration with the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE).

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar was the chief guest at the award function held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, today. The award was received by CB Ojha, Chief Engineer, UT Engineering Department.

The SEEI assesses various factors, including energy consumption patterns, its production, power-saving policies and initiatives, renewable energy usage, infrastructure and overall energy-efficiency practices within a given state, specifically in buildings, industry, transport, municipal and the cross sector.

Every year, the BEE divides all states/UTs into four categories based on their Total Final Energy Consumption (TFEC) to enable a rational peer comparison.
