City traffic police hold walkathon for road safety

As part of the Seva Pakhwada-2025 initiative, Chandigarh Traffic Police today organised a walkathon at Sukhna Lake to promote road safety under the Safe Drive Campaign.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, NCC cadets, NGOs and the general public, carrying placards and road safety messages. Awareness drives were also held at Dussehra Ground, Sector 46, and Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, focusing on responsible driving, traffic rules and civic discipline.

Dr Parvesh Sharma, Inspector, Children Traffic Park, emphasised the importance of wearing helmets, using seat belts, lane discipline and giving way to emergency vehicles. Participants were also sensitised to the dangers of drunk driving, underage driving and mobile phone use while on the road.

Supported by senior police officials, the campaign aims to foster a culture of safe driving and reduce road accidents, with the vision of making Chandigarh a city with zero accidental deaths.
