Civil defence volunteers to get honorarium, uniform

6,500 volunteers got registered with the Administration for civil defence

After receiving an overwhelming response, the UT Administration has decided to train 3,000 civil defence volunteers in the city. Nearly 6,500 volunteers got registered with the Administration for civil defence during the recent tension with Pakistan.

Of these, 3,000 youth have been selected. By the end of this month, the training will be started. According to officials, a proposal has been made to get these volunteers trained from Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration in Sector 26. The trained youth will have to report to the civil defence officer. Apart from the uniform, these trained youth will also be given some honorarium. At the time of tension between India and Pakistan, the Administration had decided to recruit civil defence volunteers. These volunteers will be assigned accordingly to sectors and villages, where a civil defence warden will be appointed for each zone.

According to the officials, the selected youth will be given 15-day training in a variety of tasks.
