The Malayalee Samajam based in Mohali celebrated its silver jubilee at Kerala Bhawan here on Sunday evening. Various programmes were held to mark the occasion.

Performances by Shruthilaya Orchestra from New Delhi and renowned dancers Sharanya Marar and Sreeja Jyotish were the main attractions of the evening.

A ‘jugalbandi’ of Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam by Sharanya Marar and Sreeja Jyotish left the audience spellbound. Live Ganamela and other performances by Shrutilaya Orchestra members were enjoyed by one and all.

Earlier, Anandpur Sahib Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament P Santhosh Kumar from Kerala and other dignitaries inaugurated the celebrations.

Sharanya, a renowned Mohiniyattam dancer and granddaughter of Kalashree Radha Marar has won various awards. Sreeja, a classical dancer, has founded Shruti Cultural Group to promote classical dance.

Kids of samajam members also presented different items on the occasion.
