Chandigarh: Cleanliness drive organised at City, Shivalik Gardens

As part of the 10-day citywide cleanliness campaign initiated by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, a special cleanliness drive was conducted today on the eighth day at the City Garden in Sector 9 and Shivalik Garden in Manimajra. Social organisations, including Don Bosco Navjeevan Society and Onkar Charitable Foundation actively participated and extended full support to the initiative.

Speaking at the event, Sector 9 councillor Mahesh Inder Singh Sidhu emphasised that the ongoing cleanliness campaign was a significant initiative by the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh aimed at making the city cleaner and healthier.

Darshna Devi, councillor, at the Shivalik Garden added that the objective of the campaign was to promote cleanliness and instill a sense of responsibility among people towards maintaining hygiene in their environment. “Cleanliness not only prevents the spread of diseases, but also plays a crucial role in protecting the environment,” she said.

While speaking about the campaign, Amit Kumar, Commissioner, MC, highlighted that such cleanliness drives offered people a chance to lead healthier lives.
