Clear encroachments from Lalru pond: DC tells civic body officials
The district administration and the Lalru Municipal Council have intensified the crackdown against offenders involved in encroachment upon the civic body’s land in and constructions bypassing building laws.
Reviewing the encroachments issue with Additional Deputy Commissioner (UD) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Executive Officer Gurbakshish Singh and Assistant Municipal Engineer Hardeep Singh, today, at District Administrative Complex, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said all the urban local bodies should take the illegal encroachment and constructions, by-passing building by-laws, seriously.
“Some of the land of the village pond that has been encouraged upon in Lalru, should be converted into a park or a playground after getting vacated,” Jain said, adding, “Otherwise, the MC will be held responsible for derelication in duty for turning blind eye to the encroachment/illegal construction.”
The MC has thus been directed to get the police help besides appointing a district magistrate from Sub-Divisional Magistrate to get the encroachment vacated and take action against the illegal constructions.
