Close shave for three as car turns turtle after head-on collision in Chandigarh

Three people had a close shave after one of their cars turned turtle upon colliding with a taxi in a head-on crash near the lake in Sector 42. All the passengers sustained injuries in the mishap.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place late around 12.30 pm. They said both the vehicles were travelling at high speed and collided into each other head-on. Such was the impact of the collision that the airbags in both cars were deployed instantly, while one of the vehicles flipped over.

One of the cars involved was a taxi bearing Punjab registration number, with the driver as its sole occupant. The other car had two passengers. All three individuals were injured in the incident and were rushed to Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, for treatment.

Following the crash, a police team from Sector 36 police station reached the spot and began an investigation into the cause of the accident.

They are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to determine the sequence of events and whether any traffic rules were violated.

The police suspect that the vehicles were speeding, which resulted in the accident. Further action will be taken after the investigation is completed.
