Interacting with mediapersons, the CM said after assuming office in 2014, his government had announced to establish a medical college and hospital in each district of the state. Except two districts of Charkhi Dadri and Palwal, a medical college and hospital had been established in every district. Out of these, 15 medical colleges had already been commissioned, including six government, one aided and eight private. The process was underway for the commissioning of the medical colleges in the remaining districts.

College to have 100 MBBS seats

  • Laying the foundation stone of the medical college and hospital, Chief Minsiter Manohar Lal said it will be constructed by the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran and named after Dr Mangal Sen, who was the Deputy CM of Haryana from 1977 to 1979.
  • The initial phase will involve an expenditure of Rs 500 crore with an anticipated additional expenditure of Rs 300 crore.
  • The entire project is slated to be completed within 30 months.
  • It will have 100 MBBS seats.

Responding to a query, Manohar Lal stated that in 2014, the state had six medical colleges. This count increased to 12 between 2014 and 2019, further reaching 15 since then. With the completion of all, the medical college count would rise to 29. Upon the completion of all medical colleges, the total number of MBBS seats in the state would reach 3,500, he added.

Highlighting the importance of healthcare professionals, the CM expressed confidence that the state would get 3,500 doctors annually. Additionally, the number of PG seats was set to rise from 851 to 1,200, addressing the need for specialised doctors. He said paramedical and physiotherapy colleges would also be set up within these medical colleges. This comprehensive approach aimed to eliminate the shortage of both general and specialised medical professionals in the state.

The CM said certain African countries, including Uganda, had expressed their interest in forging agreements with Haryana and sending their students here for the MBBS course. He said Uganda had population similar to Haryana, but the country only had two medical colleges.

The CM said Prime Minister Narendra Modi advocated health and fitness for every individual in the country. Aligning with this vision, medical colleges were being established across the state. Apart from Shri Krishna Ayurveda Vishvidhayala in Kurukshetra, an Ayush AIIMS had been established in Panchkula for natural treatment.

The CM said after conducting the mapping of villages, sports facilities, including stadia and nurseries, would be set up in 300 villages of the state this year.

Manohar Lal asked every family to participate in “Deepotsav” at home on January 22. Additionally, there were considerations to arrange live broadcasts in educational institutes and other places to facilitate people connecting with “Pran Prastishtha Samaroh”, he added.

In reply to a query, the CM said all liquor establishments in the state would be closed on January 22. He emphasised that the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was not a political event as it had deep sentimental significance for people.

Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal, political adviser to CM BB Bharti, HSVP Chief Administrator TL Satyaparkash, Deputy Commissioner Sushil Sarwan, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sumer Pratap Singh, Panchkula HSVP Administrator Sachin Gupta, media secretary Praveen Attrey, publicity adviser Tarun Bhandari and officials of the district administration were present on the occasion.
