College notes: CGC, Landran
Team Code Crusher from Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran, bagged the first prize in the national-level finale of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024, software edition, bringing laurels to the institution competition. Computer Science Engineering students Piyush Gupta, Prerna Jain, Rahul Sharma, Prachi Saini, Priyanshu Chauhan and Ritvik Bhutani bested 26 other teams, with their project, "Raahi - The way to easy travel", a website designed to boost local travel.
Dev Samaj College
The Dev Samaj Mahotsav was oiragnsied to mark the 174th birth anniversary of Dev Samaj founder. The four-day celebrations saw an array of activities related to daily discourses on social ethics and moral culture. An organ donation awareness camp was also held, followed by a blood donation camp.
Shoolini University
Shoolini University attained an H-index (an author-level metric that measures productivity and citation impact of publications) of 140, making it the highest among institutions established in and after 2008. The H-index is a recognised metric used for both researchers and academic institutions.
SGGS, Sector 26
Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, observed World Pollution Prevention Day by organising an educational visit to its adopted village, Manauli, Punjab. During the visit, students and faculty members engaged with the students of Government Senior Secondary School to raise awareness about the harmful effects of pollution on the environment, health and food systems.
GCCBA, Sector 50
The Internal Complaints Committee of Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, organised awareness session for college employees. Advocate Saumya, a legal expert practicing at the Punjab and Haryana High Court, was the guest speaker. She explained the need and origin of the POSH Act, the rights of complainants and defendants, the structure of the Internal Complaints Committee and legal remedies.
