College notes: Chandigarh University

On the occasion of National Startup Day, Chandigarh University hosted SANDBOX 2025 to celebrate the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the North India and showcase innovations, foster meaningful collaborations among startups, investors, industry leaders as well as aspiring entrepreneurs, with Shark Tank India judge and Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal. Hosted by Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator (CU-TBI), under the theme, “Empowering Visionaries, Redefining Tomorrow”, SANDBOX 2025 saw over 1,000 registration, of which 250 viable startups were shortlisted.

CGC, Landran

The inaugural ceremony of Udyamotsav 2025’s final pitching round was held today at Chandigarh Engineering College, CGC, Landran. The event witnessed the convergence of bright young minds and investors shaping the future of innovation. The central inaugural ceremony followed, with an audience of over 400 attendees, including students, startups, investors and dignitaries. As many as 27 shortlisted startup teams pitched their innovative ideas to nine investors representing diverse industries.

PGGC, Sector 46

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the Post Graduate Government College, Sector 46, organised a seven-day camp on the theme “Youth for My Bharat and Youth for Digital Literacy”. The camp was organised to develop the students' personality and character through hands-on learning experience and voluntary community service. Myriad activities were organised over the seven days ranging from field activities like fitness sessions, cleanliness drives and painting tree trunks and others.

GCCBA, Sector 50

The Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, celebrated the festival of Lohri with enthusiasm and fervour. The gender sensitidation society of the college marked the occasion by dedicating the celebration to young girls. Principal Shashi Wahi and Dean Dr Sangam Kapoor distributed woollen clothes and sweets to underprivileged children.

SCHOOL NOTES

GNPS, Sector 36

Sachkeerat Singh of Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, claimed second position in the National Meteorological Olympiad conducted by the Indian Meteorological Department under the Ministry of Earth Sciences. He was felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Seven students including, Ekampreet Kaur, Ayush Sharma, Abhishthi Thakur, Sachkeerat Singh, Sehajveer Singh, Pawandeep Singh and Yashparteek Singh, from the same school claimed top positions in the state level. The students’ outstanding accomplishments were lauded by the President of the GNPS Governing Council- JS Bawa (Former Director, CBI) and others.

DAV Model School

A Kundiya Yagya was organised in the portals of Sanatan Dharam Temple, Sector 15, by the staff and the students of DAV Model School, Sector 15. After the yajna, the teachers of the music department, along with the students, recited a bhajan. The event ended on a positive note with Shanti Path and Prasad distribution along with community langar.

New Public School

In the memory of the founder principal, Shanta H Singh, New Public School, Sector 18, organised a “Big Aunty Math Quest”. The result was declared on the Founder’s Day to mark her birthday. Around 426 students from various Tricity schools participated. In the junior category, Sparsh Singhal from Saupin’s School, Sector 32, bagged the first prize, while in the senior category, Akshara Gaur from Sri Guru Harkrishan Model School, Sector 38, claimed the first position.

KB DAV, Sector 7

To commemorate its 150th anniversary, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) organised a National Meteorological Olympiad for the school students. Akshit Rawat and Diya Yadav won the state level event, and selected for the national level. The top three state level winners from each class were invited for a one-day Workshop which was inaugurated by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in the premises of Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Akshit Rawat of Class 11 represented Punjab region and won first prize, while Diya, a state-level winner from Chandigarh was awarded.

Bhavan Vidyalaya

Bhavan Vidyalaya, New Chandigarh, embraced the festive spirit of Lohri with an event that brought joy and togetherness to all. The celebration began with a special assembly by Class 6, where students highlighted the significance of Lohri. The highlight of the festivities was the ceremonial lighting of the Lohri fire by the Principal, Inderpreet Kaur, and Vice-Principal, Ramneek Kaur Malhotra.

Blue Bird School

Lohri was celebrated at Blue Bird High School, Sector 16. Peanuts, Rewari, Popcorns were distributed among students. Principal Vandna addressed the students about the importance of the event.
