Commuters rejoice as Baltana underpass becomes operational

The Baltana underpass near the K-Area lightpoint on the Zirakpur-Panchkula national highway has been made operational, finally putting an end to the misery of thousands of road users here who faced traffic snarls on a daily basis.

The underpass gives a clear way to the traffic on Zirakpur and Panchkula on the national highway while giving an option to the vehicles moving towards Baltana and Dhakoli to pass through the underbridge.

The underpass was in the offing for a longtime but the construction work gathered pace in August 2022 after a lull due to Covid.

Residents, meanwhile, expressed hope that the dreaded blackspot at K-Area lightpoint is a thing of past and a major safety hazard on the highway has been cleared.

The lightpoint was an accident hotspot, especially putting in danger the life and safety of two wheeler riders as well as pedestrians.
