The Municipal Corporation on Tuesday organised 'Swachhotsav', an event under the "Swachhata Hi Seva 2025" campaign, in Sector 27 here.
Addressing residents on the occasion, Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla emphasised the importance of citizen-led initiatives in sustaining cleanliness and environmental health.
MC Commissioner Amit Kumar and Sector 27-D RWA president Shikha Nijhawan were present on the occasion. The key highlight of the event was a live demonstration of home composting techniques, which was conducted by Nijhawan, showcasing simple, effective ways to convert kitchen waste into nutrient-rich compost.
Babla said home composting was “very important” for maintaining Swachhata. “Every household can manage its own wet waste through easy composting methods, reducing the burden on the civic infrastructure and contributing to a cleaner, greener city,” she said.
