Congress candidate for the Panchkula Assembly seat Chander Mohan today covered areas of Billa, Jaswantgarh, Asrewali, Bunga, Tibbi and other villages of Barwala, along with Sector 21 as part of his political campaign.

Banking upon the party manifesto, he said it had elaborate assurances for the poor, including gas cylinders at a price of Rs 500, jobs for 2 lakh persons, increasing old age pension to Rs 6,000, ensuring minimum support price for crops and providing free electricity up to 300 units among others. He said the local leaders and workers of the BJP were leaving the party and joining Congress.

Gupta said the Congress meant misleading people by telling lies. “The Congress party formed the government in Himachal Pradesh by lying and today the employees there are not even getting their salaries,” he said, and added that the party’s aim was to lie, lure and form the government.

“The people of Panchkula Assembly are happy with the work of the BJP government. They are praising the working style of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini,” he said, while adding that people should vote for him to ensure progress of the state.

Trying to woo residents by hitting key civic issues, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Prem Garg today listed a number of initiatives he would initiate to make the city’s waste management better.

He said he would take a new approach to address the pressing issue of solid waste disposal. He said he wanted to curb the waste inflow at the Jhuriwala dumping site and improve the overall waste management system in the city.

Garg said he would ensure direct unloading of garbage from small vehicles into larger containers to avoid the need to dump solid waste at the Jhuriwala site, decentralising material recovery centres and establishing them in other parts of the city, acquisition of 10 acres for a solid waste management plant, segregation of waste at source and others.

He went to Aulakh, Bhagwanpura, Bharaili and Barwala for canvassing today.
